The Naples Italian American Foundation (NIAF) celebrated a momentous occasion on April 17th, 2024, hosting their inaugural scholarship banquet. The event proved to be a resounding success, with almost 100 attendees in support of the deserving students in their academic pursuits.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of six scholarships, each valued at $1,000. Four academic scholarships were awarded to recognize outstanding scholastic achievement. John Auguste from Immokalee High School, Selvin Perdomo from Lorenzo Walker Technical High School, Scott Jarman from Gulf Coast High School, and Mayra Ortiz from Immokalee High School were each presented with scholarships for their academic excellence.
The Foundation also took great pride in awarding two Special Olympics scholarships. Savannah Schilling, a participant in the Barron Collier High School Life Program, received support for her plans to attend StarAbility. Alex Beckett, a student at Florida Gulf Coast University's RISE (Real Independence Successful Employment) program, was also awarded a scholarship to further himself in his life goals.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment to fostering educational opportunities for all deserving students in the Naples area. By recognizing both academic merit and dedication to programs like the Special Olympics, NIAF is making a positive impact on the lives of these young individuals.
The success of this inaugural Naples Italian American Foundation scholarship banquet paves the way for continued support of local students in the years to come.
