Why the Naples Italian American Foundation?
In 2019 the Naples Italian American Foundation (NIAF) is celebrating 50 years of American/Italian Heritage in Naples, Florida. It started as a club where Italian Families came together to socialize, break bread and play Bocce. We have been the leading advocate and sponser of Naples Special Olympics Bocce.
Our volunteer coaches train 20 to 30 athletes every Tuesday at 4:00 PM from January through May. Our Special Olympians have garnered many ribbons participating in the Collier County Games, the Area Games in Cape Coral, and the Florida State Games in Orlando. The Season culminates with an awards dinner provided by NIAF and its many volunteers (coaches).
NIAF supports Local Charities and National Charities through special fund raising events. In the past we contributed to the Folds of Honor and the Veterans Relief Fund. NIAF has an established Endowment Fund whereby it continues to accept donations and provide support to charities.
One of the benefits you will receive with membership is the camaraderie you will sense upon meeting our members. You need not be Italian to gain membership. We welcome all ethnicity.
Stop by the Bocce Courts on a weekday morning; attend a Wednesday Evening Social Dinner, or a Sunday Dinner Dance. Bring you dancing shoes or sit back and enjoy good music and conversation.
NIAF has a full calendar of events that will keep you busy during (what Naples residents refer to as) “The Season”. The Wednesday Social Dinners have card playing, bingo and Mah Jongg. Our men and women will be now playing Bocce on Thursday Evenings.
Stop by and visit. Attend a Wednesday Social Dance, or a Dinner Dance, participate in Bocce or watch our Special Olympians train. You will receive great enjoyment and find a home away from home.
On behalf of all our family members, we look forward to seeing and meeting you at our events.
